Always on point with his productions but never one to take either a deadly serious or a formulaic approach, Crookers' four tracks on the EP have distinctly different flavours while remaining true to his subversive style. Lead track 'Innocent' kicks things off with a statement beat, cutting through the quiet with minimal percussion. Building a patchwork of loops and hooks, the track develops intelligently accompanied by Baxter's soaring vocals. That's just the beginning for 'CRKRS 001', next track 'Regular Sunday' introduces one of Crooker's signature minor chordal arrangements, then 'The Return' and 'Drug Dealer Judgment' toy playfully with unexpected vocal samples.
