TRACK LIST:
A1: Original
B1: Dave Aju Remix
The first vinyl of our new division « PPR Shade Edition » starts with a deep sensual and groovy release produced by the boss of Anoma Records, Ohm Hourani, and the Montreal singer Do Mi (Dominique Fils-Aimé) that we could already listen in collaboration with artists such as Radiq, San Proper... on a few electronic music projects. They are working together under the moniker of AL/VE.
A1 Let the Rhythm (Original) : Simple and extremely catchy, each sound has the space for itself. Wonderful fusion when the minimalism meet the jazz music. Soulful mix given by this two artists.
A2 Let the Rhythm (Dave Aju Remix) : Club oriented percussive groove remix which will give the party side of the release « Let the rhythm ».
MORE: Hourani operates vinyl-exclusive label ANOMA, dedicated to the distribution of distinctive, minimalistic and organic sounds kissed with soul.
Ohm Hourani is on a journey that continually tests his understanding of sound. A longside his innovative studio work, the Montreal-based artist embraces the relationship between technology and electronic music in the classroom while teaching the intricacies of sound engineering. Hourani's curiosity manifests itself in both live sets and DJ sets that have piqued the curiosity of progressive-minded music enthusiasts and critics alike. Whether weaving culturally significant folkloric music samples into a seamless worldwide journey at Montreal's renowned MUTEK festival, packing the dance floor at Berlin underground temple Club der Visionaere or spinning alongside the dinosaurs at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Ohm's contagious beat is equal parts understated and unforgettable.
His vinyl-exclusive label ANOMA is dedicated to the distribution of distinctive, minimalistic and organic sounds kissed with a jazzy flair.
His oft-stated goal is to infuse captured sounds and live recordings with groundbreaking sound engineering. The result is an insightful and inquisitive approach to creating sound. You might even call it anomalistic.
Do Mi (Dominique Fils-Aimé) is Montreal Singer Songwriter and Artist whose musical influences are deeply rooted in jazz and soul. Her style can be described as a mix of old school classics from the 40s, 50s and 60s blended with contemporary pop and house sounds. In 2015, Do Mi took part in The Voice making it to the semi-finals of the competition. She currently is busy touring, painting, helping with charities and her first EP : The RED Ep.
Following up on his 2014 appearance at MUTEK, Hourani presented AL/VE, an exclusive new set celebrating the unity of archaic machines and modern man, with Do Mi joining him in the festival's finale position in the underground Salle BWR.
Bay Area born Marc David Barrite aka Dave Aju is a reliable name for fresh and distinctive electronic music, combining deep knowledge and passion for dance music history with a fearless, forward-thinking approach to production and performance. A diverse range of influences from his jazz upbringing and hip-hop years, to the outer realms of experimental post-rock and musique concrète can be heard in Aju's unique sound, always with a solid sense of rhythm owed to his roots as a dancer.
Dave Aju remixes, DJ sets, and live performances are in demand at labels, clubs, and festivals across the globe. Following the success and praise for his body of work including several notable EPs and remixes as well as three full-length concept-driven albums on the Circus Company label, Mr. Aju is now more active than ever expanding his musical multiverse, with promising collaborations such as the voice of the Guillaume & The Side Effects and KAMM bands, one-third of Berlin-via-SF DJ power trio Something Something Something, along with new solo releases on the revived Music For Freaks and Matthew Herbert's Accidental label. Dave Aju is truly the opposite of deja vu - we never know what's coming next.
